shaded bland

A shadow carefully
cuts a line out of light

the birds do not mind
a gray/white sky
as long as it lifts

they stand out
with dark feathers
and no eyes
but gaping thin branches;

when in flight
below the perpetual ceiling
they are cooks with small spoons,
crumbles of dry ink;

only the bravest dares streak
this gray canvas
if brave means reckless
if braves means determined

because of fear of being seen
in full nude
by a cat
in bland winter skies
